Build a Satisfying and Loving Relationship!

We long for connection to an intimate partner. We devote our time and energy to one person and count on fulfillment because we are in love. Our innate tendency as humans is toward secure and long-lasting relationships.

Though you feel you have found your soul-mate, you also may have experienced a rift or betrayal in your relationship bringing about feelings of anger, hurt or confusion. You wonder whether your connection as a couple can possibly be repaired.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, is a well-researched, highly effective method of couples counseling that helps you and your partner shift the way you understand and interact with each other. EFT offers conversations that acknowledge your emotions, and encourage you to express to each other your hurts as well as your desires. You can begin to heal your relationship injuries and diminish your relationship distress. As the emotional bond strengthens, you can begin to re-build the relationship you’re longing for.

EFT was developed by Dr. Susan Johnson as a method of working with couples who are experiencing relationship challenges. EFT therapy involves working as a team; you, your partner, and me, to uncover the feelings beneath the unhealthy interactions within your relationship.

As you begin to understand these behavior-reaction cycles, you can diminish the destructive interactions that are getting in the way of deep connection. You will grow to trust that when you turn to your partner for the desired, loving response, your partner will be there for you.

Emotionally Focused Therapy accommodates couples of all sexual orientations and gender identities. As an LGBTQ+ affirming, secular therapist, I welcome couples from diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds who want to improve and deepen their connection.

You may choose private, weekly couple sessions or you may consider my 4-week couples package.

I’m happy to answer questions you and your partner may have during a free 15-minute consultation. Call 949.264.2054.

EFT is based on the observation that our most important relationships can trigger strong feelings. And relationships can be both a source of massive stress and pain - or a source of great comfort and joy. EFT helps couples learn to deal with these feelings together - in a positive way.
